Iron Fences and Driveway Gates Drawn to Lakeway Code

Our team provides code-checked layouts, delivering fence lines the city will sign for homes and closed drives for both residential and commercial projects. Lakeway work carries 3 years of workmanship warranty for welds, hinge alignment, gate sag and gate travel, and you also get the experience of 11 years in business and over 1,412 projects, the smallest a single walk gate in a stucco wall and the largest a 26 ft cantilever across a loading entrance.

From the property line survey to the last latch adjustment, our team handles the job from start to finish. Serving Lakeway and neighboring Bee Cave, Volente and Steiner Ranch, we settle material and height on paper before any steel is cut.

Winifred's rear yard backs onto a golf course off Ranch to Market Road 620, and her old wire fence had sagged along the fairway. Lakeway does not allow a wood fence there when the course can see it, so we built a 96 ft hand-forged iron fence with a matching walk gate, an estimated $8,600 to $11,800 job that typically ran 3 to 5 days. The fence sits on the property line and ties back to the house, and the open pickets keep the view from her patio.

Barnaby lives on a sloped lot, and deer and delivery vans were both using his drive as a turnaround. On his Hurst Creek drive we hung a 14 ft single swing leaf that opens uphill, with a 24V operator, photo eyes and a keypad set back from the street. It was an estimated $3,400 to $4,600 project that typically took 1 to 2 days, and the turnaround traffic stopped the week it went in.

Winifred's job was a fence first and a gate second, priced by the foot of forged iron. Barnaby's was the reverse, one automated leaf priced as a full system with no fence run at all.

What Lakeway Allows for a Yard Fence

Lakeway names wrought iron as one of four approved yard fence materials, alongside wood, masonry and pre-cast concrete. The city fence code says a yard fence up to six feet can be approved administratively, and up to eight feet by the code official or an authorized designee. We settle the height with you before fabrication, because a seven foot leaf is a different review from a five foot one.

The same section keeps yard fences out of the street side setback, prefers the property line, and asks for at least one end of the fence to finish at the house, which is how Winifred's fence was drawn.

Golf Course Lots and Private Gates in Lakeway

A Lakeway lot that backs onto a golf course cannot use a wood fence where the course can see it, so iron is the usual choice for that run. Open pickets meet the rule and keep the fairway view, the same reason Winifred chose them off Ranch to Market Road 620.

Lakeway's subdivision code prohibits gated communities in the city. Our Lakeway gate work is private: driveway gates, side yard gates, pool gates and courtyard entries on a single lot. Where a fenced development already has coded gate access, the fence code asks that the keys or codes go to the Lakeway police and that a key switch be fitted for the Travis County ESD #6 fire department, and we install that switch when the job calls for it.

Lakeway Fence and Gate Costs

A hand-forged wrought iron fence in Lakeway is generally estimated at $85 to $130 a linear foot, and a single swing gate with an operator at $2,500 to $5,000 for the full system. The table lists the Lakeway jobs we quote most, each with an estimated price and time on site.

Lakeway jobEst. investmentEst. time on site
Hand-wrought forged iron fenceEst. $85 to $130 a linear footEst. 3 to 6 days
Welded ornamental fenceEst. $50 to $85 a linear footEst. 2 to 4 days
Single-leaf swing gate with operatorEst. $2,500 to $5,000 for the full systemEst. 1 to 2 days
Ornamental walk-through gateEst. $600 to $1,500 for each gate installedEst. 4 to 8 hours
Aluminum pool fenceEst. $30 to $45 a linear footEst. 1 to 3 days

Winifred's 96 ft fence came in near the middle of the forged iron range per foot, and Barnaby's single leaf landed in the middle of the swing gate range because the slope needed an uphill swing and nothing more.

An owner who wants the look of iron for less often picks a welded ornamental fence at an estimated $50 to $85 a linear foot. A lake house pool usually needs an aluminum pool fence at an estimated $30 to $45 a linear foot, with the self-closing, self-latching gate priced on top. These Lakeway figures are estimates and are subject to change; the site visit and the written quote that follows set the exact price and schedule.

Fence and Gate Materials for Lakeway Lots

Lakeway owners on course and lake lots most often ask for wrought iron fencing along the rear line and automatic driveway gates at the street. Pickets are 16-gauge and rails 14-gauge, with 3.5 to 3.875 inches clear between pickets, so the fence also works around a pool. Posts and hollow rails are G90 hot-dip galvanized tube, which keeps rust from starting inside where you cannot see it. Every piece is finished in electrostatic polyester powder coat 3 to 5 mils thick, over a multi-stage wash and zinc-phosphate primer. Rackable panels follow a gentle slope toward Lake Travis, and steps take over where the grade is too steep to rack.

How a Lakeway Fence and Gate Job Runs

A Lakeway job runs in four steps, and the drawing is settled before the shop starts. First our estimator walks the lot with your plat, marks the property line and the street side setback, and notes any golf course or lake frontage. Second, you approve a drawing that shows height, material and where the fence ties back to the house. Third, the shop fabricates the panels and the leaf, and posts are set 24 to 36 inches deep in concrete, sized to the soil and rock on that lot. Fourth, the crew hangs any gate on ball-bearing barrel hinges sized to the leaf weight, fits a 24V DC continuous-duty operator where there is one, and tests the monitored photo eyes and edge sensors before we leave. No digging starts until the free Texas811 marking is done.

Why Lakeway Owners Choose Our Crew

Lakeway owners get one crew from the plat check to the final latch, so the fence the city reviewed is the fence that goes in. The welder who builds your panels works in our Georgetown shop on every job, and 1,412 finished projects include lake lot fences, hillside drives and a Round Rock fence run. Every swing leaf gets gate catchers and positive travel stops, and a solar operator with dual-battery backup is an option where running power down a long Lakeway drive is not practical.

Lakeway Fence and Gate Questions

Can I build a wrought iron fence in Lakeway?

Yes, wrought iron is one of the materials the city fence code lists for yard fences, as on Winifred's golf course lot off Ranch to Market Road 620.

How tall can a Lakeway yard fence be?

The code allows up to six feet with administrative approval and up to eight feet with the code official's approval; we confirm your lot with the city first.

Can I put a wood fence on a golf course lot?

Not where the golf course can see it, so most of those owners pick open iron pickets.

Can my Lakeway subdivision add an entry gate?

The city prohibits gated communities, so we build private gates on single lots: driveway, side yard, pool and courtyard gates.

How much does a Lakeway driveway gate cost?

In Lakeway, one motorized swing leaf usually lands at an estimated $2,500 to $5,000; your written quote fixes the number once we have measured.

How long does a Lakeway fence take?

A forged iron fence typically takes an estimated 3 to 6 days on site, depending on length and slope.
