Cordelia wanted lanterns on her new entry off Hamilton Pool Road, and her HOA asked how they would meet the dark sky rules. We built a 16 ft two-leaf swing entry with pillar lanterns, in galvanized steel, powder coat, limestone pillars, and specified fully shielded 3000K pillar lights on a photocell, all written into the HOA packet. Cordelia's job was estimated at $5,600 to $7,400 and typically ran 2 to 3 days.

Ignatius had a chain-link run around his pool near State Highway 71, and the HOA wanted it gone before the house was listed. We replaced it with a 110 ft pool fence with a self-closing gate, self-latching too, in a color from the HOA list. Ignatius's project was estimated at $3,500 to $4,800 and typically took 2 to 3 days on site. Ignatius's pool area passed the HOA review, and the backyard now photographs cleanly for the listing.

Cordelia's Hamilton Pool Road entry was mostly a lighting question, while Ignatius's pool fence near State Highway 71 had no lights at all and turned on the HOA color list.

Bee Cave Dark Sky Rules for Gate Lighting

Bee Cave became the state's 7th DarkSky Community in April 2023, so gate lighting here is a compliance item, not decoration. The city's residential lighting guide caps every fixture at 3,000 Kelvin and requires all of it to be fully shielded, which means no bare bulbs aimed outward from a pillar cap.

The same guide requires controls that shut outdoor lights off when there is enough daylight, and it limits total outdoor output on a home lot to 25,000 lumens per net acre. On Cordelia's entry the 3000K pillar lanterns run on a photocell, and we count their lumens with the house's other fixtures.

Bee Cave Permits and HOA Review

The city's building permit list includes fences over 7 ft tall, so most residential fences and gates in Bee Cave sit below that trigger. The same page tells owners to check with their HOA, because deed restrictions can apply even when no city permit is needed.

For Ignatius's 110 ft pool fence with a self-closing gate, we prepared a drawing with height, picket spacing and a finish color from the HOA list, which is what most architectural committees ask to see. If your plans include a fence over 7 ft or other work on the city's permit list, we flag it at the first visit so it is filed before fabrication.

Bee Cave Gate and Fence Costs

A two-leaf automated swing entry in Bee Cave is generally estimated at $4,000 to $8,000 for the full system, and a pool code aluminum fence at $30 to $45 a linear foot. The table lists the Bee Cave jobs we quote most.

Bee Cave jobEst. investmentEst. time on site
Automated dual swing driveway gateEst. $4,000 to $8,000 for the full systemEst. 2 to 3 days
Pool code aluminum fenceEst. $30 to $45 a linear foot, self-closing gate extraEst. 1 to 3 days
Iron fence sandblast, rust treatment and powder coatEst. $30 to $50 a linear footEst. 1 to 3 days

Decorative pedestrian walk gateEst. $600 to $1,500 for each gate installedEst. 4 to 8 hours

Cordelia's entry landed in the middle of the dual swing range because the pillars were already part of her plan. Ignatius's 110 ft run priced out near the top of the per-foot pool fence range once the self-closing gate was added.

Owners with an older manual gate often start with an opener retrofit at an estimated $1,800 to $3,800 before replacing the leaves. Every figure here is an estimate and is subject to change; your Bee Cave site visit and written quote set the final price and schedule.

Gate Materials for Bee Cave Homes

Bee Cave owners most often ask for dual swing gates at the drive and pool fencing out back. Gate frames are G90 hot-dip galvanized steel tube, finished in electrostatic polyester powder coat 3 to 5 mils thick over a zinc-phosphate primer. Leaves hang on ball-bearing barrel hinges sized to the leaf weight, with gate catchers and positive travel stops on every swing and slide leaf. Pool fence pickets keep 3.5 to 3.875 inches of clear space, and a 24V DC continuous-duty operator with monitored photo eyes and edge sensors runs the driveway leaves.

How a Bee Cave Gate Job Runs

A Bee Cave job runs in five steps, with the HOA packet done before anything is ordered. First we visit, measure the drive and note the HOA and any city permit trigger. Second we draw the gate, fence and fixtures with cut sheets for the committee. Third, once approved, the shop fabricates and powder coats the leaves. Fourth, posts are set 24 to 36 inches deep in concrete after the free Texas811 marking. Fifth, the crew hangs the gate, wires the operator and lights, and tests photo eyes, edge sensors and the photocell before handing over the remotes.

Why Bee Cave Owners Hire Our Crew

Bee Cave owners hire us because the drawing the HOA approved is the gate that gets installed, lights included. Our Georgetown welders build every leaf in our own shop, and 1,412 finished projects include pillar entries, pool fences and hillside drives. On a long drive off Hamilton Pool Road, where running power to the gate is hard, a solar operator with dual-battery backup keeps the entry working through an outage.

What does my HOA usually want to see?

Most committees ask for height, picket spacing, finish color and fixture cut sheets; we prepare that packet with the drawing.

How much does a Bee Cave driveway gate cost?

A dual swing entry is typically estimated at $4,000 to $8,000 for the full system, and the written quote after the visit sets the exact price.

How long does a Bee Cave pool fence take?
