Quinn's Rollingwood lot left almost no room between the curb and the garage, so the gate had to open away from the street and a car had to stop fully off the pavement. We drew a 14 ft laser-cut oak-leaf double leaf that swings inward, left off sharp finials and rounded the top, an estimated $5,200 to $7,000 job over an estimated 2 to 3 days. The pair clears the sidewalk in Rollingwood and still looks like it belongs to the house. It is one of the 1,412 gates our crew has built in 11 years, and it carries the same 3-year workmanship warranty as the rest.

Custom Fabrication or a Prefabricated Gate

A prefabricated gate ships faster and costs less, while a custom gate matches your opening, your house and your slope, which matters on a Volente or Sunset Valley lot. The table compares the two paths side by side.

Regulations and Design Codes Your Custom Gate Must Meet

Local rules in Georgetown and Rollingwood shape the design before the first weld. Georgetown's code allows a decorative wrought iron front yard fence, keeps it to 4 ft with at least 50 percent transparency, and keeps a 25 ft sight triangle clear at corners, so a solid privacy leaf may need a different placement. Rollingwood's code asks that the vehicle sit fully off the street, that the gate open parallel to or away from the street, and that pointed tops be left off. Confirm current rules with your city, whether Georgetown, Round Rock or Leander, before you commit.

Sun City Texas and the Old Town Overlay go through their own review as well as the city. We check the rules for your Cedar Park or Steiner Ranch address while we draw, so the design is not redone later. Finial choices such as spear, triad, flare, fleur-de-lis or flat-top are picked per lot and per city rule, which is how Quinn's finial-free oak-leaf pattern cleared Rollingwood.

How We Fabricate a Custom Driveway Gate

Every custom gate moves through the same shop sequence:

  1. Measure: we record the opening width, the grade across it and where each post will sit, from Old Town to Sun City Texas.
  2. Draw: we produce a scaled sketch for a 12 ft single leaf or a 16 ft double leaf with the picket gap, rail height and finial choice marked.
  3. Cut and weld: our lead welder builds the frame and fills it with pickets spaced in the 3.5 to 3.875 inch gap range.
  4. Finish: the steel is washed, given a zinc-phosphate primer and a polyester powder coat of 3 to 5 mils.
  5. Hang: posts go 24 to 36 inches into concrete and the leaf is hung on ball-bearing barrel hinges.

A draft is cheaper to change than a finished leaf, whether a 14 ft single leaf or a 12 ft swing leaf, so we ask you to mark up the sketch before any steel is cut. Posts and hollow rails are G90 hot-dip galvanized tube so rust cannot start from the inside, and the picket gap stays 3.5 to 3.875 inches clear. Where the grade runs, rackable panels follow a slope and steps are used only where it is too steep to rack. Bottom clearance is 2 to 3 inches above lawn grade, less over paved drives.

Custom Driveway Gate Cost in Georgetown

A custom gate priced like our welded ornamental fence or hand-wrought forged iron fence is estimated by the foot, and the width, the design detail, the finish and the shop time move the price most. Ornamental steel runs an estimated $50 to $85 per ft and hand-forged iron an estimated $85 to $130 per ft.

Gate Materials and Matching Pages

A custom leaf pairs well with a run of fence in the same pattern, such as a 110 ft front and side run or a 200 ft perimeter run. See wrought iron gates for hand-forged wrought iron detail, steel gates for galvanized steel tube construction, or wrought iron fencing to carry the pattern along the property line. Quinn's laser-cut oak-leaf pair shows how a plain frame can still look custom. A fence run in Cedar Park or Round Rock can repeat the same 16-gauge pickets and 14-gauge rails, so the gate and the fence read as one piece.

Why Georgetown Owners Hire Our Shop

From Georgetown to Round Rock, our owner draws or reviews every custom sketch, and our lead welder builds the gate you approved rather than a stock panel with your name on it. Over 11 years and 1,412 projects we have learned that most disputes start with a drawing nobody saw, so the sketch comes first. A custom leaf from our shop is warrantied for workmanship over 3 years, covering welds, hinge alignment, gate sag and gate travel. We work inside a 45-mile radius of the Georgetown shop, and the same crew that drew the gate hangs it on ball-bearing barrel hinges with posts set 24 to 36 inches deep.

Custom Gate Service Areas

Our shop sits in Georgetown and serves a 45-mile radius, including Cedar Park custom gates, Round Rock gate fabrication, Leander driveway gates and Rollingwood entries. Serenada, Steiner Ranch, West Lake Hills, Volente, Lost Creek and Sunset Valley are covered on our service area page. A custom gate for a Serenada acreage lot and one for a West Lake Hills hillside need different footings, so the Georgetown shop drafts each against the lot it serves. Round Rock and Leander drives tend to be flatter, while Steiner Ranch and Volente drives often need a rackable panel that follows the slope.

Related Entries Worth a Look

Many custom gates in Cedar Park and Leander are paired with a pedestrian entry gate, upgraded later with automatic driveway gates, or framed by estate entry columns. Owners who want a modern line can compare horizontal slat gates.

Custom Driveway Gate Questions Georgetown Owners Ask

How much does a custom driveway gate cost in Georgetown?

Ornamental steel is estimated at $50 to $85 per ft and hand-forged iron at $85 to $130 per ft, with your written quote that fixes the price.

How long does a custom gate take to make?

A custom gate takes longer than a prefabricated panel because it is drawn, cut, welded and coated for your opening, typically 2 to 4 days on site in Georgetown or Cedar Park, and your written quote sets the schedule.

Can I change the design after the sketch is approved?

Yes, before steel is cut, whether it is a 14 ft single leaf or an 18 ft double leaf on an acre lot, and changing a drawing costs far less than changing a welded leaf.

Will the gate rust?

Not quickly, because the steel gets a multi-stage wash, zinc-phosphate primer and an electrostatic polyester powder coat 3 to 5 mils thick, over G90 hot-dip galvanized tube on posts and hollow rails.

Do you add an operator later?

Yes, and we size the frame and hinges from the start for a single-leaf swing gate with operator or an automated two-leaf swing entry so a later upgrade does not need a rebuild.

Does my city limit the design?

Some do, such as Georgetown's transparency rule for front yard fences and Rollingwood's ban on pointed tops, so we check your address first.
